Use An Essay Planner Printable Template To Formulate A+ Essays

An essay planner printable template is a PDF document that helps students formulate their ideas and plan their essays before writing them. This helps students write a better essay and not struggle as much when they get to the writing stage as they will know exactly what to write. The essay planner printable template pack can be used for many different essay based subjects such as english, history and other humanities subjects etc. There are 4 essay plan templates all with slight variations in the printable pack and a student can choose which one will work best for the essay they need to write. The planner pack also includes references/bibliography pages, an essay brainstorm page and a research summary page.

How to use an essay planner template 

Choosing to use your essay planner as a printable or digital template

You can use an essay planner template as a printable or in a PDF editing app such as goodnotes or notability. All you need to do is follow the link here to purchase the essay planner and then decide whether you are going to use it as a printable or digitally.

If you decide to use your essay planner template as a printable I suggest figuring out which essay planner template is right for you and printing the exact pages you want to use out so you do not waste paper and ink. I have made my designs minimalistic and black and white to reduce printing costs as well! If you don’t have a printer at home, don’t worry as you can print my printables at your local print shop, for example officeworks or kmart! 

A great thing about my templates is that you can easily scale them to the paper size that you want to print with by changing the printer settings! This means you can print them smaller than A4 such as A5 (half page size) so you can use your essay planner in a smaller journal or binder. 

If you decide to use your essay planner template digitally, I suggest using a pdf reading and editing app such as goodnotes or notability. There are many other programs that work really well too. Personally, I use all of my templates on my iPad pro and fill them out by handwriting with my apple pencil but you can also fill out the templates with text boxes as well. If you use text boxes you can also use the essay template on your laptop in adobe acrobat or preview! 

Brainstorm your essay

The first step in using your essay planner would be to use the essay brainstorm page. This page features a box where you can write the essay question or topic of your essay. The box is surrounded with dot grid paper to give you some guidelines as you plan your essay. Use arrows coming from the box to main points you want to discuss in your essay and then continue adding arrows for more specific information and examples you want to give in your essay. Condense research into summaries

The next page that I would fill out in my essay planner template would be the source summaries page. This is a really helpful page to condense all of your research together that you will use for your essay. On this page there are 2 columns where you can write down the title/author of your source and then next to it a summary of the source. In the summary I suggest writing in dot points and only writing the most important and relevant information that you will use in your essay! 

Start making your bibliography

While doing your research I suggest filling out one of the two references templates options in the essay planner printable pack. If you do this as you research it will be much easier to make your bibliography at the end of your essay. 

Fill out an essay plan template

The final step is to start making a detailed plan for your essay. You have four options for essay planner templates. They are all slightly different and I highly recommend looking at the product images here so you can get a good idea of which template will work best for the essay you are going to write. 

Each essay planner template has a topic/question box and a date section. They all also have a section where you can plan out your introduction and then slightly different ways to plan out your main body paragraphs, and finally a section to plan your conclusion. I think essay planner template #3 is my favourite as it has a progress tracker bar at the bottom of the template. This is really useful for keeping track of your essay’s progress, in particular how many times you have reviewed/edited it and if you have completed and then submitted it. 

Once you have filled out your essay plan template you will be very well equipped for writing a fantastic essay. You will have all your information planned out and it will make the essay writing process so much faster!

Making an essay plan is arguably the most important step in essay writing. Without one it is really difficult to write an inspiring and impactful essay as you will not know exactly what you want to say in your essay. An essay planner helps you gather and formulate your ideas and then organise them into a sequential order. It also ensures that you have all the necessary information in your essay by making you write down your argument/point, evidence, explanation and link. This is really helpful for english essays where analysis is super important!
